Omega-9s are predominantly monounsaturated fats found in everyday foods like extra-virgin olive oil and avocados. Oleic acid is the principal dietary ω-9 and helps maintain normal cell membrane fluidity as part of a balanced dietary pattern.
Omega-9s do not compete for the same desaturase pathway constraints as omega-6 and omega-3 families.
