🧬 Amino Acids Overview

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins — essential for muscle repair, enzymes & hormones, immune function, and neurotransmitters. Of the 20 standard amino acids used in human proteins, 9 are essential (must come from food), 7 are conditionally essential (needs rise in stress/illness/growth), and the rest are non-essential (normally synthesised by the body).

✅ Balanced intake → better recovery, resilience, and metabolic health.
❌ Imbalanced/prolonged low intake → reduced performance, poor healing, low lean mass.

⚖️ Quick Notes

  • Complete proteins (meat, eggs, dairy, soy) include all essentials; combine plant sources (e.g., legumes + grains) to cover gaps.
  • B6 supports amino acid transamination; B12/folate support methylation pathways.
  • Excess of one amino acid can compete with others for transport — aim for balance.
